Human Papillomavirus
OCDI, in partnership with key stakeholders, successfully implemented the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination project for girls aged 9–12 in Asa Local Government Area—advancing efforts to protect young girls from cervical cancer.

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination project was successfully implemented by Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) in partnership with the International Vaccine Access Center (IVAC), Direct Consulting and Logistics (DCL), the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and Women Advocates for Vaccine Access (WAVA).
Funded by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, through Johns Hopkins University, the project focused on improving access to life-saving vaccines and strengthening community awareness on cervical cancer prevention.
The intervention was carried out in Asa Local Government Area, targeting girls between the ages of 9 and 12—an important age group for early protection against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a leading cause of cervical cancer.
Through strategic collaboration and community engagement, the project contributed to safeguarding the health and future of young girls, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare and equitable vaccine access.
