The Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) established the Olive Girl Child Support Program (Olive-GSP) as a dedicated initiative focused on empowering and sensitizing adolescent girls on issues that directly affect the girl child. On October 13, 2017, during the global commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child, OCDI engaged female teachers and student representatives in meaningful discussions about the challenges facing adolescent girls. From these deliberations emerged a shared passion and urgent need to create sustained awareness, mentorship, and support systems to help girls grow into confident women of inestimable value in society. As a result, OCDI officially launched the Olive Girl Child Support Program (Olive-GSP). Key Activities • Girls’ Open Day: Held every second and last Friday of each month, featuring mentorship sessions, skills acquisition training, and discussions on adolescent reproductive health and personal development. • School Sensitization Campaigns: Outreach activities conducted across secondary schools to raise awareness on issues affecting adolescent girls. The program attracts adolescent girls from various secondary schools within Asa LGA and continues to provide a safe, supportive platform where girls are equipped with knowledge, confidence, and life skills to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Through Olive-GSP, OCDI reaffirms its commitment to nurturing the next generation of strong, informed, and empowered women.
