Secure Our Lives Project

On Wednesday, 28th July 2021, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) was honored to serve as an implementation partner for the @SecureOurLives project, focused on amplifying women’s voices toward sustainable and inclusive peace. Through a town hall meeting with survivors and key stakeholders, the project provided a safe space for women across Kwara State to share first-hand experiences of insecurity, including kidnapping, farmer-herder violence, state-sponsored violence, non-state actor violence, rape, assault, armed robbery, and other threats to their safety. At the event, OCDI documented these experiences to amplify women’s voices and exert demands for improved security across Nigeria. Participants also engaged in discussions to identify collaborative solutions and concrete actions to strengthen security and ensure safer communities in Kwara State and beyond. This initiative underscores the importance of centering women’s experiences in policy and community action to build peace and resilience.
