Building resilience is key to breaking cycles of poverty. On January 25th, OCDI engaged students in Kwara State through interactive sessions on resilience and sexual and reproductive health rights, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

On 25 January, Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI) visited Lasoju Comprehensive High School and Government Day Secondary School, Otte, Kwara State, to engage students on resilience building as a critical pathway to overcoming shocks, stress, and long-term vulnerability to poverty.
Using the body mapping tool, students were guided to identify personal and environmental stressors they had experienced. These reflections created a safe space for open conversations, where practical coping strategies and solutions were discussed to help them better manage challenges and build emotional strength.
The session also focused on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), empowering students with essential knowledge about their rights, including:
• The right to make informed and responsible decisions about their sexuality, including protecting and promoting their sexual and reproductive health
• The right to live free from discrimination, coercion, or violence in their sexual lives and decisions
• The right to expect equality, full consent, mutual respect, and shared responsibility in relationships
Through this engagement, OCDI continues to equip young people with the confidence, awareness, and life skills needed to make informed decisions and build healthier, more resilient futures.
